The redevelopment of Bridge Street forms part of the wider town centre improvement plan and will see the creation of 37 family homes alongside more than 1,000m² of commercial space/live work units. With the intention to increase footfall and activity across the town, the design concept focuses on opening up the River Anker and improving connections with the George Eliot Memorial Gardens.

A series of interlinked public spaces, overlooking the river, will create a new route between the High Street and Memorial Gardens. A mix of terraced housing and apartments can be found along this route, providing sympathetic riverside homes in the existing conservation area.
