Allocated as part of Chelmsford City Council’s regeneration plan, Rainsford Road occupies a prominent position on the corner with the A106 parkway but is currently used as a surface car park for Essex County Council. Due to its proximity to the city centre and train station, it has been identified as viable for a 49 unit retirement scheme, comprising 18 one bed and 31 two bed apartments with residents’ sky lounge. The design has been developed to respond to the rich mix of neighbouring uses, scales and character and create a landmark building.
