The masterplan for Upper Abbey Street, in the centre of Nuneaton, will modernise, restore character and reconnect the town through the provision of sustainable new homes and sociable open space. Currently home to a hybrid of Victorian and post-war properties, the design proposals seek to regenerate outdated and unfit-for-purpose buildings with a broader mix of homes and apartments. The focal point for the scheme will see the transformation of Nuneaton Recreation ground into a public park alongside a new network of green, traffic-calmed streets to encourage connectivity and sustainable travel. The neighbouring Meadow Street will also act as a green spine link between the community’s northern and southern boundaries.
