Black Boy Public house
Location - Leicester
Client - Aimrok Holdings Ltd
Our Role - Architect, Visualisation
Originally built in the 1920’s but vacant since 2012, the Black Boy public house sits on a prominent corner in Leicester city centre. The re-development seeks to create 38 studio and one bedroom Build to Rent apartments across a new five storey building.
The design proposal was developed by considering a cast of the existing building to capture detailing, and establish how this could be reproduced to create a complementary contemporary aesthetic. It will retain the pub’s locally listed façade whilst partial demolition behind will facilitate new extensions to the sides and roof. Its old main entrance will lead into a new reception hall and some of the historic detailing such as stone cornicing will be mirrored in the new build element.
