Another of Leicester’s flagship waterside projects is the regeneration of the former Wolsey Works factory at Sock Island into 188 homes and apartments. Located in the heart of the city, the scheme has dual waterfront outlooks and has taken its design cue from the site’s industrial heritage. Two apartment buildings on the peninsular frame the development, with a mix of three storey properties with strong roofscapes on the canal side and two storey dwellings adjacent the river frontage. A focal point for the scheme is the retention and conversion of an ornate, 19m Victorian water tower.
